Mary Jo (Walser) Homrich

A loving mother and beautiful friend, Mary Jo Homrich, age 80 of Portage, died suddenly at her home December 26, 2019. She was born April 20, 1939, in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Eva (Hicks) Walser, who preceded her in death. Mary Jo grew up in Chesaning for several years, before her family moved to Kalamazoo, where she graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1958. She attended Davenport and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Mary Jo was a bookkeeper for her family's multi-generational business, Homrich's Garage. Mary Jo's family includes her children: Rhonda Homrich, Daniel (Lisa) Homrich, and Stephanie Barrett and their father, Ronald Homrich; her grandchildren: Jonathon, Daniel Jr., Katelyn, and Benjamen; her great-grandchildren: Heidi, Garrett, Daniel III, Harrison, and Joshua; her brother James "Keats" (Joyce) Walser; and six nephews. Visitation will be held from 3 PM to 7 PM on Friday, January 3, 2020, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007, where her Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 4, 2020, with Father Michael Hazard presiding. In lieu of flowers, Mary Jo requested memorials be directed to the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
