of Portage, MI Died Monday evening June 6, 2011. Mary was born May 20, 1947 and was raised by Alfred and Lorena Knapper. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of her life and owned and operated Mary's Flea Market for 10 years. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and a half brother, Leslie Chappell. On December 27, 1979, she was united in marriage to Alfred "Fred" Harvey Hitchcox who survives. Also surviving, a daughter, Susan David Vandeville of Parchment; a son, Scott A. Hitchcox of Portage; 3 grandsons, Richard, Justin, and Joseph; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 1 o'clock Tuesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Visitation will be 5-7pm Monday. Interment will be in South Portage Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association.
