Mary Eleanor Westrate

WESTRATE, Mary ?Eleanor? Comstock Mrs. Westrate passed away Tuesday morning, October 24, 2006 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born February 11, 1918 in Pendleton, Oregon, the daughter of the late Walter and Fern Abrams Price. Eleanor was employed at Little Brothers Grain Elevator for 20 years, and also the Township of Comstock for 20 years, with several years as the Township Clerk. She was a member of Comstock Christian Reformed Church. On May 29, 1958, Eleanor was united in marriage to Gare Westrate, who preceded her in death on August 5, 2000. Also preceding her in death are 1 brother, John Price; and 1 sister, Bertha Sliter. Surviving are 4 children, Duane Marjorie Westrate of Kalamazoo, Roger Bonnie Westrate of White Hall, Kenneth Ruth Westrate of Gary, IN, and Sally Worden of Au Gres, MI; 13 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, James Lucille Price of Hillsboro, IL; and 2 special nieces, Jean Peters and Judy Vincent. Funeral services for Mrs. Westrate will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at Comstock Christian Reformed Church, 5300 Comstock Avenue, with Rev. Jay R. Pruim officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway and 10-11 AM on Friday at the church. Private interment will be in Alamo Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Comstock Christian Reformed Church or Comstock Community Center.
