WILSON, Mary M. Burnett
of Portage Mary passed away Saturday morning, April 23, 2011 at her home with her family by her side. She was born September 23, 1917 in Corunna, MI, the daughter of Arch and Mary Joy Burnett. Mary graduated from the University of Michigan earning her Master?s Degree in Education. She was a librarian and school teacher for 30 years working at the Lincoln Consolidated School in Ypsilanti, American School of Hague in The Netherlands, and Portage Northern High School as their Latin teacher until her retirement. She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Pi Beta Phi Sorority, Weaver?s Guild of Kalamazoo and Portage Senior Center. Preceding her in death were her husband, John M. Wilson, in 1961; her former husband, Robert H. McGregor; parents; and brother, David Joy Burnett. Surviving are three children, Charles Sylvia McGregor of Laguna Beach, CA, Laurie Fred Olm of Portage, and Perry Inga Wilson of Portage; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mary also had three step-children, Libby Ann Burton, Laurentia Wallace and William Keen Wilson along with their 11 children and 14 grandchildren. Funeral services for Mary will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 929 E. Centre Avenue. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue. Private interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Ann Arbor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, Portage Senior Center or Weaver?s Guild of Kalamazoo. Please visit
