Formerly of Gary, IN Mary N. Boromisa died Monday, January 14, 2008, at Clare Bridge of Utica. She was born July 20, 1920, in Miller, Indiana, a daughter of Stepan Nepsa and Elizabeth Trian Nepsa. She graduated from Ball State College and the University of Miami, Florida, and taught grade school for the Gary Public Schools before retiring in 1980. Mary was a member of the Protection of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Merrillville, Indiana. Throughout the years she had resided in Gary, IN, Berrien Springs, MI, Terre Verde Island, FL and the past year in Utica, MI. On November 18, 1945, Mary was united in marriage with Robert Vaso Boromisa, who preceded her in death on April 23, 2006. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; two sisters Anna and Sophie; and a brother Vossel Nepsa. Mary is survived by: twin daughters, Elizabeth Edwin Bercaw of Harrison Township, MI, and Beverly R. Boromisa of Michigan City, IN; two sons, Robert D. Laurie Boromisa of Ballston Lake, NY and Jeffrey M. Laura Boromisa of Portage, MI; six grandchildren, Ron Powell, Jr., John Holly Powell, Edwin L. Bercaw, Mary Beth Bercaw, Eric Boromisa, and Carolyn Boromisa; two great-grandchildren, Joanna Lee Powell and John Ezra Powell; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 9:30 AM Friday morning at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI, 49009. Interment in Fort Custer National Cemetery will follow services. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
