KINNEY, Marvin L.
Of Portage, Michigan Marvin passed away Thursday evening, April 10, 2008 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. A lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, he was born November 12, 1924 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late Nelson and Dora Smith Kinney. A 1942 graduate of State High School, Marvin was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II from 1942-1946. Following his time in the Army, Marvin attended Rochester Institute of Technology for 2 years from 1947-1949, graduating with a degree in Printing Technology. Marvin owned and operated Tri-County Fence Co. for 14 years, until his retirement in the mid 1990's. He was an avid golfer and member of Pine View Golf Club. On August 14, 1947, he was united in marriage to Irene Burrma in Kalamazoo, who survives. Also surviving are 2 children, Jill Kinney of Portland, OR, and Scott Robin Kinney of Phoenix, AZ; 2 grandchildren, Melissa and Adam Kinney; 1 sister, Marilyn Carr of Paw Paw; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Marvin will be at 4:00 PM on Sunday at Trinity Reformed Church, 326 W. Cork Street, with Rev. Jacques Nel officiating. Private interment with military honors will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 3-4 PM on Sunday at the church.
