Formerly of Kalamazoo Marvin passed away Sunday morning, November 7, 2010 at Allegiant Health in Jackson. He was born October 5, 1919 in Kalamazoo, the son of John and Jennie Fryling DeYoung. Marvin was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was employed by First National Bank for over 25 years until his retirement in 1981. Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Mary Ann Kramic DeYoung; five children, Doug Shirley DeYoung of Kalamazoo, Bill Teresa Gooding DeYoung, Judi Bob Smith of Vicksburg, Kevin DeYoung of Portage, and Vicki DeYoung of Kalamazoo; three step-daughters, Mary Ellen Harry Cotterill of Kalamazoo, Janet Jeff Rogers of Saline, and Jayne Kramic of Cleveland, OH; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Edith Arlene Sawyer DeYoung on December 8, 1987; his parents; and twin sisters, Jane VanOostrum and Betty DeYoung. Funeral services for Marvin will be at 1:00 PM on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Rev. Roy Ackermann officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
