BROCKMAN, Marvel J. Formerly of Portage Passed away March 25, 2007 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Marvel was born September 9, 1921 in Martin, MI the daughter of Clarence and Clara Brabon and was adopted and raised by Ernest and Mary Brawner. She lived for most of her life in Blue Island, IL. Marvel was employed with her husband Kenneth Brockman at the United Transportation Union in Chicago, IL until their retirement, at which time they moved to Portage, MI. She was a member of the Portage First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 2002. Surviving are 4 daughters, Patricia Nyblom and Karen James Thompson, all of Portage, Susan John Quertermus of Richland and Ann Konuk of Portage; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister Lucille Earnhart of Phoenix, AZ and a brother Bernie Brabon of Portage; many nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family beginning at 1:00 pm Thursday at the Portage First United Methodist Church, 8740 S. Westnedge Ave. where services will be held at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Greg Wood officiating. Private family interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Marvel?s memory may be made to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.
