WESTRA, MARTIN "MARTY"
of Portage, Michigan Martin "Marty" Westra, 85, died May 30, 2013 with his family by his side. Marty was a dedicated husband, caring father and loving grandfather and great grandfather. Marty was born December, 31 1927 in Kalamazoo the son of Jacob and Louise Gram Westra. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and for over 30 years was co-owner of Lemmer Service Center with Roger Doorn. Marty was married for 65 years to his loving wife, Rose Earl Westra who preceded him in death on May 16, 2013. Surviving are his children, Shirley Dale Hays, Martin Janet Westra, Teresa Ted Pilecki; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings. Marty was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia Velazquez. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 3rd at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick. Friends may meet with the family at the chapel on Sunday from 4-6 PM and Monday from 10-11 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
