Martin Kloosterman

KLOOSTERMAN, MARTIN Martin "Marty" Kloosterman, age 74, passed away July 8, 2015 at his residence in Knoxville, IA. Martin was born October 4, 1940 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late John and Grace Boogholt Kloosterman. He was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo until moving to Knoxville two years ago. Marty had a great love for life; he embraced everything and everyone with a sense of humor and a competitive spirit. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, bowling, fast pitch softball and golf. He played ball as a catcher for VandenBerg Furniture and Plangger's Furniture for many years. He took up golf later in life and became an excellent golfer, competing and winning tournaments. Marty retired in 2012 from a long time career in sales and business. On June 27, 1987, he was united in marriage to Beverly Barnes Kloosterman who survives. Also surviving are his children, Ron Nikki Kloosterman, Julie Bob Cole, Joni Tom Balkema and Marty Heidi Kloosterman; 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; Marty's former wife, Margaret Brussee; siblings, Katherine Redeker, John Nellie Kloosterman, Walter Hennie Kloosterman, Henrietta Hank Amey, James Kloosterman, Robert Ann Kloosterman; sister-in-laws, Antoinette Kloosterman and Shirley Kloosterman; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Barnes; brother-in-laws, Clifford Joye Lynn Barnes and Brian Jeannine Alexander Barnes; nieces and nephews. Marty was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard, Gerrit and Henry Kloosterman; his brother-in-law Dale Redeker and his grandson John Luke. In accordance with Marty's wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday July 15th at the Northern Heights Christian Reformed Church 1454 West E Ave where the family will receive friends from 10-11AM at the church. Memorials in Marty's memory may be directed to Northern Heights Christian Reformed Church or HCI Care Services, Knoxville, IA. Local arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes.
