Martha "Martie" Leak, age 86, passed away December 26, 2014 in Kalamazoo, MI. Martie was born May 3, 1928 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Arie and Grace Zwart Vader and was a lifelong resident. She was employed for 28 years with Humphrey Products where she worked in human resources and had been one of the first women computer program writers. Martie was a longtime active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she served as deacon and elder. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling, dining out, theater, and was well known for her wonderful sense of humor. Martie volunteered with the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Shepherd's Center, and was a liaison for Guillain-Barre Syndrome Support Group. On June 21, 1952, she was united in marriage to Edwin A. Leak, who preceded her in death on June 10, 2005. She was also preceded by her parents and three brothers, Andrew, Richard and Peter Vader. Surviving are her two children, Lorie Leak of Portage and Thomas Vicky Leak of Kalamazoo; her good friend, Carol Summerfield; her brother, John Jean Vader and nieces and nephews. A Service to Celebrate Martie's life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 3rd at Westminster Presbyterian Church 1515 Helen Ave with Pastors Gerald and Janet Duggins officiating. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to service time and immediately following the service during a time of fellowship and refreshments. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Martie's memory may be directed to Westminster Presbyterian Church, or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
