BOUMA, Mrs. Martha
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 12, 2008. Martha was born April 27, 1919, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Arend and Elizabeth VandenBerg DeYoung and has been a lifelong resident. She was united in marriage to Peter J. Bouma on July 1, 1943. Martha had been employed with several insurance agencies throughout the years. She was currently a member of the First Reformed Church of Portage and a former member of Fourth Reformed Church. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Peter on September 17, 1988, and was also preceded in death by sisters, Nellie Homan, Grace VanderRoest, Tina Esman and brother, Edgar DeYoung. Surviving are two daughters, Eileen Jerry Wielinga of Portage and Elaine John Scheffers of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Jennifer Wielinga, Peter Wielinga and fianceé Kristen Powell, Andrea Scheffers and Derek Scheffers; sister, Susie Molitor of Kalamazoo; sister-in-law, Tena Bouma of Portage and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday at the Portage Chapel with Rev. Mike Drew officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
