Kalamazoo, MI Marta died Monday, October 10, 2011 in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born on April 12, 1921, in Jumurda, Latvia a daughter of Augusts and Lize Sudrabins Gulbis. Marta moved to the United States as a young woman. She graduated from the University of Michigan and worked as a pharmacist for Warner Lambert for 27 years before retiring. Marta was a member of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Kalamazoo. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are: two sisters, Alma Elksnis and her children all of Kalamazoo, and Rita Egons Kaimins of Riga, Latvia. A prayer service will be held 3:00 Thursday afternoon at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., with Rev. Biruta Puike and Rev. Leons Viksne, officiating.
