Marleen Hammon

Hammon, Marleen of Portage, Michigan Passed away on March 22, 2013 at the age of 80. She was born on November 17, 1932, the daughter of the late Milford Hammon Sr. and Edna Briggs Hammon. She graduated from Otsego High School and then received her Bachelors Degree from Western Michigan University. She was employed as a Physical Education Teacher with Portage Central High School and retired from Mott Junior College. She enjoyed swimming, golfing, sailing and traveling. Surviving are three nieces and one nephew, Carla Raymond Cook of Portage, Bradford Sari Hammon of Allegan, Michaelle Robert Redford of Plainwell and Autumn Hammon; and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Dreger; two brothers, Donald Hammon and Milford Hammon Jr.; and her nephew Ross Hammon. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Scott Burdick will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Western Michigan University Alumni Association.
