It is with great sadness that the family of Mark Harold Thomas announces his passing on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the age of 43. He was born July 19, 1974 in Kalamazoo. Mark graduated from Portage Central High School in 1993 and earned his Masters of Arts in 2006 from Western Michigan University. He also attended Trinity Seminary of Chicago. Mark enjoyed reading, cooking, and art. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving companion of 17 years, Joy Porter; his mother, Pamela (Steven) Scheick; his father, Dennis (Rose) Thomas; brother, Douglas (Jamie) Thomas; half-brother, Tyrone Thomas; step-sister, Samantha (Terry J.) Neubert; step-brothers, Craig (Lisa) Scheick, and Uriah Dansby; and several nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by a half-brother, Scott Thomas of Arizona; and grand-parents, Evelyn and Harold Thomas of Arizona, and Virginia and Dan Burnham of Parchment. Services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, July 20 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre with Rev. Dr. Wayne Price officiating. Friends may meet the family Thursday evening, July 19 from 6-8pm at the Portage Chapel. Interment will be in Portage Central Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
