Mark DeWayne Peebles

Passed away at his home on Thursday, October 24, 2013. Age 53. Mark was born in Kalamazoo on August 9, 1960, the son of the late Robert Willard and Era Dale Bradford Peebles. He was a member of 12th Street Church of Christ. He graduated from Mattawan High School. He loved sports and new the answer to just about any sports trivia question. He volunteered with Kalamazoo Valley Community College with the Boys and Girls Basketball Teams. He ran the shot clock for their games and helped out with their basketball camps. He was loved by everyone and never met a stranger. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Milton Linda DeWitt of Arkansas, Rodger Betty Peebles of Parchment, Diane Ron Stratton of Plainwell and Sheila Jasper Jr. Simpson of Kalamazoo; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Carlene Peebles, Kathy Peebles and David Ashby. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Gurnia Jean Peebles, James Franklin Peebles, Jimmy Ray Peebles, Sharolett David Ashby. Funeral service will take place 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Pastor Michael James will officiate. Private family interment will take place in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, in care of Sheila Simpson, 3002 Alamo Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49006.
