Of Kalamazoo Marjory E. Anderson, "Midge" passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence, Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the age of 90. The daughter of the late Frank and Myrtle Pyper, was born February 7, 1919 in Niagara Falls, New York. She married Donald, H. Anderson her college sweetheart, on Nov. 22, 1941 in Niagara Falls. Midge and Don, who preceded her in death, spent most of their lives in Saginaw, MI, raising their family where Midge was very active in the Woman's National Farm & Garden Association, Saginaw Branch, where she was conferred a life membership. Her favorite project was working on the annual Green Sale for the branch. Midge was very talented in making all kinds of crafts for the event. Mrs. Anderson was also highly active in "The Woman's 9 holer League" at the Saginaw Country Club, where she enjoyed many fine rounds of golf with her friends. Midge was a very active person and enjoyed taking care of her family and spending time with her many lady friends playing bridge and entertaining. Midge was an alumnus of Michigan State University School of Home Economics and a very avid fan of the Spartans, where for many years her and Don never missed a home football game. After her children were grown and gone Midge decided to return to teaching. She spent 12 years at Merrill Michigan schools substituting in various classrooms, where she became one the student's favorites. Midge retired from teaching in the early 90's. During the summer months Midge enjoyed the sandy beaches of Caseville, where her and Don had a cottage on Sand Point. Later they built a beautiful summer home on the shore of Lake Leelenau, where many great times were enjoyed with family & friends. Midge was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Saginaw, where she enjoyed making all kind of crafts for the church's many bazaars. Later when she moved to Kalamazoo to be closer to family, she affiliated with The First Presbyterian Church of Schoolcraft and resided at Wyndham Heritage Community. While at Wyndham Midge made many great friends and enjoyed playing bridge and bingo, where she would win cookies for her great-grandchildren. Midge leaves behind a daughter, Judy Anderson of Davis, CA; and a son, Richard Anderson and his wife Sherrie, of Portage. Two grandchildren, Melanie and her husband Pete Gildea of Vicksburg and Scott and his wife Gina Anderson of Paw Paw; a sister, Beverly and her husband Bill Carpenter of Orlando FL; Three great-grandchildren, Savannah, Andrew and Ethan and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Midge's life will be held at Heritage Community Wyndham Residence, 2300 Portage Road on Wednesday, April 29 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
