Marjorie C. Flower

June 15, 1914 — November 4, 2012

FLOWER, MARJORIE C. Marjorie C. Flower, age 98, a longtime resident of Kalamazoo, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 to join her many friends and family members waiting for her in heaven. Marjorie was born in Saline, Michigan on June 15, 1914, the daughter of the late Lewis and Neva White Cool. She married Jack Flower on June 5, 1932, and together they had four children, John, Barbara, Virginia, and Christine. Marjorie was a member of the First Congregational Church of Christ in Kalamazoo, since 1963, and an active member of the Mary Kay Guild & Women's Fellowship. She was an avid bridge player and a member of the Borgess Hospital Fitness Club well into her 90's. She loved a good luncheon right up until this last week. Marjorie always had a smile on her face, a positive, can do attitude, kind words, and was an inspiration to many. Our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was the cornerstone of our family, and we were blessed to have her with us for so long. She was loved beyond words and will be missed even more. Marjorie was preceded in death by husband Jack, son John, sister Glennis, her husband "Pete", her parents, son-in-law Allan Matter, and many, many friends. Marjorie is survived by her three daughters Barbara Peter Braun of Houston TX, Virginia Matter of Burton, MI, Christine Douglas Borsum of Holly Sprigs, NC, and daughter-in-law Barbara Flower of Westend, NC. Grandchildren, Cathy, John, Deborah, Stephanie, Michelle, Lisa, Brenda, Suzanne, Becky, Bryan, Heather, and their spouses. She also leaves 19 beautiful great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. We will all miss her thoughtful cards at our birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries with the surprises inside. We love you mother, and grandma. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the Lounge of the First Congregational Church of Christ, 129 S. Park St., in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where a service to celebrate her life will begin at 12:00 PM in the Chapel with Rev. Steve Welker officiating. Memorials in Marjorie's memory may be directed to the First Congregational Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
