Kalamazoo In loving memory of Marjorie Anne Brown Snickar who was born July 12, 1923 in Calumet , Michigan and passed away April 11, 2009 in Kalamazoo. The daughter of Andrew Henry Snickar and Jemina Snickar, she was preceded in death by her brother John Jack and her husband of 55 years, Dr. Alan S. Brown. She is survived by her children Elizabeth, Judy, and Geoffrey, her granddaughters Rosalind and Jennifer, her cousins Dorothy Denham, Betty Kajander, Tom Manniko Jan, Mary Powers, Leila Robertson John, Sue Gerard Gene and Diane Zierow Arnold, and many nieces and nephews. Marjorie graduated from Adams Township High School in Painesdale, Michigan in 1941 and obtained her R.N. degree at the Michael Reese Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois in November 1944. She served her country in the United States Army during World War II achieving the rank of First Lieutenant doing Nurse General Duty in the Pacific Theater of Operation. After the war, she utilized the G.I. Bill to earn a B.A. degree from the University of Michigan. She married Alan S. Brown in 1950 in Howell, Michigan. After her children were grown, she returned to nursing, working for Upjohn Home Healthcare Services and at Provincial House. She enjoyed playing bridge, theater, operetta, and travelling to the British Isles. A private burial service will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
