Marjorie Lee Baughman

March 11, 1936 — June 19, 2024

Vicksburg & Climax

Marjorie Lee (Hoyt) Baughman, of Vicksburg, Michigan, passed away on June 19, 2024, at the age of 88. She was born in Richland, Michigan, on March 11, 1936, to the late Leo and Ida (Brown) Hoyt.

She graduated from Climax High School in 1954.

On July 31, 1954, she married Karol Baughman—the two were married for 67 years until Karol’s passing in 2022. They resided on their family farm in Climax.

Marjorie had several jobs in her lifetime, working at Consumers Power Company, Pease Packing, and First National Bank in Climax; to name a few. She was instrumental in keeping records of the family farm. Marjorie enjoyed gardening, painting, sewing, quilting, and cooking for holidays and birthdays. She enjoyed researching the family genealogy and was active at the Prairie Historical Society.

Marjorie had a great love for chocolate. If it came in chocolate flavor, she wanted it!

Marjorie was an avid photographer for gatherings and events with family and friends. If you ever wondered who was in the photo or when it was taken, all you had to do was look on the back and the names and dates were there. As a family, the Baughman’s always looked forward to summer weekends at the Simmons’ family cottage on Indian Lake, where there was boating, skiing, and water sports. Good times were had by all.

Marjorie and Karol, in their retirement years, did a lot of touring in their motorhome, attending Model-T tours with the Boiling T’s, in whatever part of the country they might be in. They attended parades and car shows showing off their Model-T’s. They wintered in Avon Park, Florida, and summered at their cottage on the Croton River. In her final years, she resided with Larry and Dawn at their residence in Vicksburg, Michigan.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Larry and Dawn Baughman; grandchildren, Sally Franklin, Mary Rugh, Clayton Baughman, Klinton Baughman, Rachel Baughman, Jamie and Rusty Bennett, Erin Matlock, Travis and Faith Baughman; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Karol; her parents, Leo and Ida Hoyt; brother, Charles; and son, Steven.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June, 27 from 4-7:00pm, as well as Friday, June, 28 from 4-7:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 205 E Maple St, Climax, MI 49034, where a funeral service will take place Saturday, June 29 at 11:00am.
