Passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015. Age 89. Marjorie was born in Fairfield, IL on July 24, 1926, the daughter of the late Fred and Myra (Applebee) Koontz. She retired from Comstock Public Schools, where she worked in the Food Service and Building and Grounds Departments. She was a member of Kalamazoo First Assembly of God. She enjoyed gardening, yard work and especially loved tending to her roses. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Jesse D. Ballard; one son, Roger D. (Bettie) Ballard; two grandchildren, Frederick and Roger Jr.; three great-grandchildren; one sister; and numerous other extended family members. Marjorie was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Clary; and one sister. Friends may visit with the family from 4 - 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway, Kalamazoo, MI 49048. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 10th at the funeral home, followed by interment in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Kalamazoo First Assembly of God or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
