PHILLIPS, Marion Elizabeth
Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Friday, October 31, 2008. Marion was born September 7, 1915 in Hanover, MI, a daughter of Clifford and Alma Barrack Bussing and had lived in the Kalamazoo area most of her life. Marion had a long career as an office manager, beautician and manager of her own beauty shop in the Dewing Building downtown and had been an inspector at Sparks-Worthington during WW II. She was a member of the Yorkville Community Church, Past President of the Michigan AmVets Auxiliary, a member and Past President of the Kalamazoo Hairdresser's Association. She had a lifelong commitment to her family and friends and was immensely proud of her support through the years to the education and well being of numerous nieces and nephews. Marion was a catalyst for arranging events for family and friends, particularly holiday celebrations and birthday observances. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenzie Phillips in 1985; her parents; two brothers, Ralph Bussing and Harold Bussing; and a sister, Agnes Rosie. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Marion's family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Saturday, November 8, from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 9, in the Yorkville Community Church, 11523 East D Avenue, Richland, with Rev. Shan Martin officiating. Interment will take place in Girard Cemetery, Girard, MI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Michigan AmVets, the Yorkville Community Church, the American Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
