Marilyn L. Sweeney

SWEENEY, Mrs. Marilyn L. Portage Mrs. Sweeney passed away Monday afternoon, May 14, 2007. She was born March 4, 1932 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late William and Lottie Small Shepard. Marilyn worked in the health care / hospitality industry for many years. She loved doing crafts, sewing, knitting and crocheting. On December 27, 1957, she was united in marriage to Richard Sweeney, who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Susan Kerry Knight of Otsego, Nancy Harold Brown of Scotts, Christine Munn of Mattawan, and Sherrie David Maike of Fountain, CO; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Joyce Robert Smothers of Comstock. Preceding her in death are 1 daughter, Patricia Tuttle; 4 brothers; and 1 sister. Funeral services for Mrs. Sweeney will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
