Scramlin, Marilyn
of Climax, Michigan Marilyn Scramlin, age 78, of Climax, passed away Friday morning, March 5, 2010 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born January 9, 1932 in Climax, the daughter of Leo and Lena Holmes VanMiddlesworth. Marilyn graduated from Climax-Scotts High School and was the Salutatorian of her class. She worked at the Fort Custer State Home until it closed and then at the MESC office in Battle Creek until that closed. On February 4, 1951, she was united in marriage to Wendell Scramlin at the Leroy Congregational Church. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Wendell; children: Phillip Beth Scramlin, Mark Scramlin and Susan Scramlin of Climax and Sally Jackson of Schoolcraft, grandchildren: Christopher Laurice Scramlin of Battle Creek, Phillip Scramlin of Climax, Brian Scramlin of Jonesboro, IN and Rachel Michael Kuhn of Augusta and great-granddaughter Lena Kuhn of Augusta. Also surviving are two brothers: Leon Donna VanMiddlesworth and Richard VanMiddlesworth of Climax.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers, Frank VanMiddlesworth and Stanley VanMiddlesworth, sisters, Frieda Elwell and Margaret VanMiddlesworth and granddaughter Sara Scramlin. Marilyn loved gardening, taking care of her pets and flowers and feeding the wild birds. She also enjoyed frequent trips to the Upper Peninsula, Florida and Charleston, SC. Most of all, Marilyn loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Funeral services for Marilyn will be at 12:00 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple Street, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery.
