SCHWABAUER, MARILYN S. Marilyn Sue Schwabauer, age 85, went home to be with her Lord on July 3, 2013. Marilyn was born March 3, 1928, in Port Huron, Michigan, the daughter of Manville and Leona Sheffer Miller. On February 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to David Schwabauer. In 1964, they became residents of Portage and she was employed for 20 years with The Upjohn Company. Marilyn was a member of First Reformed Church of Portage for many years. She enjoyed knitting, golfing and baking especially those Christmas cookies; but the most important part of her life was her family. Following retirement she and her husband enjoyed wintering in Florida for several years prior to becoming fulltime Floridian's. She was currently a member of Faith Baptist Church of Winter Haven, FL. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, David Schwabauer on May 15, 2005; also by her parents and a brother, David Miller. Surviving are four children, David Sue Schwabauer, Sue Dennis Hoeksema, Larry Judy Schwabauer, Jerry Jane Schwabauer; 11 grandchildren, Lisa Scott Poblenz, Kristin Scott Rydbeck, Matthew Schwabauer, Scott Rosalie Hoeksema, Dan Jonni Hoeksema, Jennifer Ryan Rykse, Amanda Sean Fischer, Erin Schwabauer Scott Hamstra, Chad Adrienne Schwabauer, Adam Laura Schwabauer, Eric Schwabauer; 15 great-grandchildren: Ty, Shane, Luke, Nora, Layla, and Annalyse Rykse; Elliana, Makenna, Jaiden, and Landon Hoeksema; Brayden and Conner Fischer; Sydney and Eva Poblenz; and Lucy Schwabauer; siblings, Jerry Bonelle Miller, Larry Carol Miller and Sandra Robert Herber; a special niece and nephew, Joann and Don Therrien and many other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 8th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. A service to celebrate Marilyn's life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at First Reformed Church of Portage 7905 S. Westnedge Ave. Interment will be held in Portage Central Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials in Marilyn's memory may be directed to Faith Baptist Church of Winter Haven, FL, or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
