Nyce, Marilyn Brown
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Marilyn Brown Nyce, born September 14, 1926, died peacefully on November 16, at Wyndham West in Kalamazoo. She resided in Kalamazoo for 37 years, and formerly lived in North Baltimore, Ohio. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Clarence Nyce, and her brother Robert and sisters Dorothy and Martha. She is survived by her sons Jim Jane Nyce of Wilton, CT and Rick Sue Nyce of Kalamazoo, and her daughter Amy Nyce of Wales, WI, along with grandchildren Katherine, Jonathan, Lindsay, Emma, Andrew, and Christine. Marilyn was born to Thurman and Lynetta Bragg Brown in Sandusky, Ohio, graduated from Bowling Green State University and married Clarence on July 3, 1948. While in North Baltimore, she taught American History and Government at the local high school for several years and directed a number of summer community theater productions. She stayed active in the arts in Kalamazoo in volunteer positions at The Kalamazoo Civic Theater and the Kalamazoo Art League. A special thanks to the aides and staff of United Nursing Services for their tremendous care and compassion over the past summer, and to the staff of Wyndham West. A private family graveside service will be held at Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on December 1, 2012 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 504 S. Westnedge Avenue in Kalamazoo. Rev. Kenneth Johnson will officiate. Memorials may be given to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
