HOOGENDYK, Maria
Kalamazoo Maria Catherina Hoogendyk, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 2, 2007. Maria was born August 4, 1915 in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands, the daughter of Simon and Henderijntje Baantjer Bakhuijzen and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for many years. On September 26, 1940, she was united in marriage to Jacob W. Hoogendyk, Sr. who preceded her in death on July 6, 1989. She was also preceded by her parents and three brothers, John, Dirk and Simon Bakhuijzen. Maria was a former member of the Third Christian Reformed Church of Kalamazoo. In 1977, she and her husband moved to Lake Worth, Florida, where they were members of the Lake Worth Christian Reformed Church. After Jacob passed away, she joined the Lake Osborne Presbyterian Church. Maria is survived by her children, Otto H.Linda Hoogendyk of North Mankato, MN, Dr. Simon Sheri Hoogendyk of Kalamazoo, Henrietta ?Henny? Bulten of Wellington, FL, Anne Marie Larry Mejeur of Lantana, FL, Catherine Alan Walker of West Palm Beach, FL and Jacob ?Jack?, Jr. Erin Hoogendyk of Kalamazoo; 24 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; a sister, Alice Poelman of West Chicago, IL; a brother, Hank Martee Bakhuyzen of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside committal at Riverside Cemetery. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, in the Immanuel Fellowship Church, 6015 West H Avenue, with Rev. John Byl officiating.
