VAN AUKEN, Marian Mae Sebring, FL and Wellston, MI Formerly of Hastings Died November 15, 2006 in Sebring, Fl after a brief illness. Marian was born July 18, 1926 in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Harm and Rena Johnson Doorlag. She was a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and has wintered in Sebring, FL since 1987. She worked for several years at Louie?s Restaurant and for ten years, owned and operated the Crosstown Bar along with her husband Wayne. Marian was a member of the First Congregational Church of Otsego. She was a former member of the Lady Elks. She enjoyed crocheting and had bowled on several leagues in Kalamazoo. She enjoyed traveling and for over 20 years, was a member of the Michigan Motor Home Club and when the grandchildren were younger, she would take them on trips to Florida. On May 17, 1951 she married Wayne VanAuken, who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters and 1 son, Wainetta Richard Holmes of Hastings, MI and Sebring, FL, Donna Rick Dangler of Portage and Danny Carol VanAuken of Brethren, MI; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers and sisters, Herman ClaraAnn Doorlag of Okeechobee, FL, Doris Robert Zanardi of Comstock, Albert Nancy Doorlag of Portage, Norma Doorlag of Kalamazoo, Marsha Brown of Otsego, Betty Kneller of Otsego and Tom Margo Doorlag of Allegan; sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Andrew Prak of Dowagiac and Pat Doorlag of Portage; many nieces and nephews. Marian was preceded in death by a sister Jeannie Carpenter and by 2 brothers, Richard and Lloyd Doorlag. Services will be held at 1:00 o?clock Tuesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Entombment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Marian?s memory may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice of Sebring, FL, 4418 Sun-n-Lake Blvd., Sebring, FL 33872 or to the First Congregational Church of Otsego
