Kalamazoo, MI Died Sunday afternoon October 30, 2011 at her residence. Marian was born April 12, 1924 in Battle Creek, Michigan a daughter of Arthur and Esther Raymond Estey. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident for many years and was employed with Western Michigan University for 21 years before retiring. Marian was also a member of the Comstock V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Duane Marks; and a daughter, Diane Shelley. On February 5, 1983, she was united in marriage to Merritt J. Custer who survives. Also surviving, a son, Clair ?Buck? Marks, Jr. of Big Rapids, MI; 2 step children, Alison Harold Thompson of Scotts, Gary Judy Custer of Portage, and daughter in law Sandra Custer of Portage; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Harriett Davis of Daytona Beach, FL; a sister-in-law, Bernita Estey; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held 1 o?clock Friday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service. Private burial will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Comstock V.F.W.
