BRINKERT, Mrs. Marian B. Kalamazoo, MI Died Friday morning May 14, 2010. Marian was born March 14, 1916 in Bloomingdale Township, Michigan the daughter of Lawrence and Nina Westcott Knobloch. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of her life. Marian graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, and Western Michigan University. She began her teaching career at age 18, teaching in one room school houses throughout Kalamazoo County. Mrs. Brinkert was employed with the Comstock Public Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1979. Marian was united in marriage to Wayne J. Brinkert on May 10, 1944. She was also a life member of the Stockbridge Avenue United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women. She also belonged to Kalamazoo Retired School Personnel. Marian's greatest interests were her grandchildren who knew no other babysitter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne J. Brinkert in 1984; an infant son, Keith; and 2 brothers, Wayne and Vernon. Marian is survived by 2 children, Gary Brinkert of Plainwell and Nina Daniel Victor of Kalamazoo; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Walker of Ypsilanti, Kaitlin Victor of Chicago and Thomas Victor of Kalamazoo; a great-grandson, Jorden Brinkert; 4 nephews, Alan Brinkert, and Dale, Kevin, and Larry Knobloch; and 2 nieces, Barbara Moran and Joan Gay. She is also survived by several cousins. A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock Tuesday at the Stockbridge Ave. United Methodist Church, 1009 Stockbridge Ave. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Monday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Private burial will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery at a later date.
