Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Peggy passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 10, 2009 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born June 29, 1930 in Kalamazoo the daughter of the late Foster and Marie VanderMaele Sherwood. Peggy was employed at Lawton Elementary School for over 22 years until her retirement. While teaching, she taught combination grades and creative writing, and kept in touch with many students years later. She was very proud of her teaching career, and was a very giving person. She was an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister; and was a member of the St. Augustine High School 60th Reunion Committee. She enjoyed gardening and cooking; but most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. On June 4, 1950, Marguerite was united in marriage to Maurice L. Huss, Jr., who preceded her in death on September 20, 1992. Surviving are her children, Edward Linda Ackerman Huss of Kalamazoo, Maurice Huss of Portage, Mark Barbara Huss of Kalamazoo, and Rosalie Stacey of Portage; 4 grandchildren, Katie Huss of Ann Arbor, Stephanie Huss of Kalamazoo, Rebecca Bryan Lewis of Portage, and Joshua Chelsea Stacey of Portage; 1 great-grandson, Ayden Stacey; 1 brother, Foster Marge Sherwood of Kalamazoo; 2 sisters, Mary Lou Tolhurst of Climax, and Emmy Les Wright of Scottsdale, AZ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Avenue, with Father Kevin Covert celebrant. Interment will follow in Portage Central Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, with a rosary at 7:30 PM. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Peggy's name may be directed to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
