WOODWARD, Margaret E.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Margaret went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at her daughter's home in Rockford, MI. She was born September 7, 1911 in Lawrence, MI, the daughter of Herbert and Elsie Thomas Gwin. Margaret graduated from Lawrence High School in 1929. On March 28, 1936, she was united in marriage to Robert M. Woodward. She worked alongside her husband in their grocery store, then was employed as a nurse for many years. Margaret was a longtime active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Kalamazoo. Surviving are her daughter, Judy Gary Stewart of Rockford; two grandchildren, Scott Sheila Stewart and Daniel Nancy Stewart; nine great-grandchildren: Jon, Marc, Caleb, Katelyn, Tyler, Jamin, Kenan, Naomi, and Cecelia; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband of 71 years, Robert Woodward on May 8, 2007; her parents; one grandson, David Stewart; one great-grandson, Isaac Stewart; two sisters, Ruth Beaupre and Marion Boothby; and brother, John Henry Gwin. Funeral services for Margaret will be at 11:00 am on Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church, 402 S. Westnedge Avenue, with Rev. Dana Arledge and Rev. Daniel Stewart officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 pm on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Kalamazoo.
