Of Kalamazoo Margaret passed away Friday morning, April 8, 2011 at Alamo Nursing Home. She was born June 5, 1919 in Shenandoah, PA, the daughter of William and Jennifer Emanuel Rafter. Margaret was employed by Kalamazoo Paper Box Co. for 21 years until their closing. She enjoyed playing the lottery, bingo, but most of all spending time and helping her family. Surviving are four children, William Linda Whitmore, Henry Loretta Whitmore, Joanne Jack Babbit and Marguerite Robert Saunders all of Kalamazoo; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Glenn and Jack Whitmore; brother, Jack Rafter; and three sisters, Rosemary Parks, Winifred Somers, and Madge Boknewig. Funeral services for Margaret will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
