TOMPKINS, Margaret M. "Peggy"
of Portage Died January 30, 2012. Peggy enjoyed many things throughout her life but tops among them, was her singing. She was gifted in song and would love to sing-along to many Broadway show tunes, hymns, standards and pop songs alike. Her favorite sing-along song was, "This Little Light of Mine, I'm Gonna Let It Shine," and that she did. She also loved to dance. She enjoyed meeting new people as much as she enjoyed the company of her friends. Rarely shy, she would tell others of her likes, especially the foods she enjoyed, cookies, candy and cake being the most popular. Over the years, she met and maintained numerous friendships within the community, folks who also visited and cared for her. She also enjoyed the visits from her sister and brother, Patricia Carlson and Ted Tompkins. Peggy's community of family and friends are truly saddened with her loss, but hopeful in her passing as well. Her smile was a welcome sight and a pick-me-up for all around. She had a great sense of humor, bringing laughter to a situation and a life that could be difficult at times. Peggy's gift to others was the intensity of her glow - always shining. Family will greet friends on Friday, February 3rd from 12 - 1:00 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where services will take place following the visitation at 1:00 o'clock.
