SIMMONS, Margaret B. Of Portage Passed away Tuesday morning, February 6, 2007. Margaret was born July 31, 1927 in LaCrosse, IN the daughter of Edward and Ruth Dutton Bigler. She was a Registered Nurse and worked for several years as the Director of Epidemiology at the Jo Ellen Smith Hospital in New Orleans, LA. Margaret was also a consultant to the CDC. She was a member of the Kalamazoo Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; the Louisiana Hospital Association; and the Philanthropic Educational Organization. Margaret also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, and her pets. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Krueger. On May 2, 1953 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Dr. William H. Simmons, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, William A. Linda Simmons of Cedar Hill, TX, Curtis T. Laurie Simmons of Portage; 5 grandchildren, Andrew, Erick, Alex, Austin, and Becky; a brother and sister, Edward D. Bigler, Elizabeth Darda; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A memorial service to celebrate Margaret?s life will be held 4:00 o?clock Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Private interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Physicians Without Borders, or the SPCA in memory of her dog ?Puddin
