Went to her eternal home in the loving arms of Jesus on February 10, 2013 and had been residing at Woodland Gardens, Borgess Nursing Home. Born September 3, 1921 in Trenton, New Jersey where she grew up with her three brothers and graduated from Trenton High School. Margaret was employed in a dentist office after high school and was actively involved in the YMCA, which held dances and entertained the WWII troops where she met the love of her life, Floyd Rock. Margaret was married to Floyd Rock in Trenton while on one of his Air Force leaves and traveled widely with him and another service couple to many of his stations. They moved to Floyd's home town, Jonesville, MI, Hillsdale County in 1950 where besides being a home maker and raising two daughters she was actively involved in many of the community organizations: President of the Child's Study Club, PTA, reading and cooking clubs, and also continued her love of dancing with Floyd in the community dance club. They were active members of the First Presbyterian Church in Jonesville for many years where she was active in the women's study group. In 1967, Floyd and Margaret moved to Kalamazoo, MI. She attended and became a member of the Kalamazoo Valley Family Church and also attended Christian Life Center. In her later years, Margaret was actively involved as a volunteer for Senior Services and loved helping and talking to the elderly. Surviving are her daughters, Susan Ken Yates, and Jacqueline Daniel Thompson; four grandchildren, Amy Dan Thrasher, Mark Ellis, Josh Ellis, and Danielle Skip Smith; five great-grandchildren, Mark Thrasher, Bailey Ellis, Jonathan Ellis, Emerson Smith, and Natalie Smith; two great-great grandchildren, Payton Thrasher, and Thor Thrasher; brother, Chester Carrie Hughes of Arizona; three step-children, Vicky, Cindy and Mark and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her first husband, Floyd Rock; second husband, Claire Thomas; grandson, Nathanial Emerson Thompson; brothers, Robert and Bill Hughes; and parents Chester and Hannah Hughes. A memorial service for Margaret will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 14, at the Langland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3629 S. 9th Street, with Chaplain Lon Bouma officiating. Memorial contributions in Margaret's name may be directed to Southern Care Hospice.
