Kalamazoo Passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009. Margaret was born November 11, 1917 in Grand Rapids, MI, a daughter of Jacob and Dena Dik VanderMeer and had lived in Kalamazoo since the early 1930's. She was employed by Sutherland Paper Co., Bemo, Redwood & Ross and J.C. Penny. Margaret was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church, where she was a member of the Women's Society and the Seniors group. She loved to crochet and do quilting. On April 15, 1939 she married Peter Hollander, who preceded her in death on March 8, 1999. She was also preceded by her parents; a daughter, Marjean Hollander; a great grandson, Andrew John DeVries; a sister, Gladys Sikkema; and a brother and sister-in-law, Garrett and Ruth VanderMeer. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Judy Menno Haan of Portage; grandchildren, Jodi Scott DeVries, Joel S. Amy Haan and Jamie J. Haan; great grandchildren, Rachel Lynn and Joshua Lee DeVries; 2 brothers, Roy VanderMeer of Kalamazoo and Jay Delores VanderMeer of Clearwater, FL; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Rd. with Rev. Dr. Warren Lammers officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 AM. Memorials may be given to the Second Christian Reformed Church Benevolent Fund.
