GIFFELS, Mrs. Margaret A.
of Kalamazoo, MI Died Thursday morning October 18, 2012. Margaret was born June 15, 1926 in Grand Rapids, Michigan a daughter of Andrew and Josephine Lewinski Erazmus. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident for most of her life and was employed with Ridegview-Heartland Nursing Home for many years before retiring. Margaret was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and 3 sisters. On July 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert W. Giffels who survives. Also surviving, 7 children, John Theresa Giffels of Marshall, MI, Mark Patricia Scott Giffels of St. Joseph, MI, Robert "Bo" Maria Fresse-Giffels Giffels of Mokena, IL, Carol Giffels of Kalamazoo, Edward Nancy Giffels of Plainwell, MI, James Giffels of Kalamazoo, and Elizabeth Dennis Darnoi Giffels of Farmington Hills, MI; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Edward Erazmus of Lawrence, KS and Raymond Lee Erazmus of Florida; a sister, Clare Platz of Madison Heights, MI; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be offered 11 o'clock Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St. Friends may meet the family 4-7 pm Sunday with a scripture service being offered at 7 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Private burial will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest at later date. Memorials may be directed to Senior Services of S.W. Michigan.
