Margaret A. Buttery

BUTTERY, Mrs. Margaret A. Kalamazoo, MI Margaret Buttery was born October 16, 1904 in Grand Haven, Michigan to Arthur and Louise Brockway. She graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1923 and went on to graduate from Western State Teachers College WMU in 1927. She taught school for 15 years in Holland, Detroit, Grand Haven, Oshtemo and Kalamazoo school districts. She retired from the Kalamazoo School District in 1969. She married Harold James Buttery Sr. in December of 1928. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1960 and her brothers: Chester in 1978 and Charles in 1995. Margaret was a member of the Milwood United Methodist Church, The Retired Teachers Association, The 20th Century Club, Bronson Hospital Children's Guild, The WMU Alumni Association, a life member of the Corinthian Chapter of the Eastern Star and volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile. She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Harold J. Jr. and Mary of Ormond Beach, Florida, Robert D. and Judy of Kalamazoo, Michigan Richard A. and Joan of Portage, Michigan, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 o?clock Thursday, January 18th at the Milwood United Methodist Church, 3919 Portage Rd. There will be no visitation. Private burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to the Milwood United Methodist Church, 3919 Portage Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49001 or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Suite 100, Kalamazoo MI 49007.
