Marcia Lou (Newhouse) Tuinstra

Marcia L. Tuinstra passed peacefully into the arms of her loving Savior on April 13, 2019. She was born April 5, 1946, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Jacob and Grace (Rop) Newhouse. She was united in marriage to Darwin Tuinstra on November 7, 1969. Marcia was raised in Kalamazoo, MI, and graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School, and attended Calvin College. She worked as a secretary at Portage Distributing, as a para-pro for the Kalamazoo Public School and tutored many piano students throughout the years. Marcia's love of music led her to be a member of the American Guild of Organists. She served as organist at Trinity Reformed Church, Winchell Avenue Disciples of Christ Church, and was head organist at Third Christian Reformed Church for 30 years, where she was a devoted member. She was preceded in death by her husband Darwin in 1998, also by her parents and brothers, Charles Newhouse and Alan Newhouse. She is survived by her son, Boyd (Laura) Tuinstra; her brother Larry (Pam) Newhouse; her sisters-in-law Ruth Newhouse-Garrett and Deb (Steve) Young; her aunt Betty Haverman of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Kalamazoo. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 18th at Third Christian Reformed Church, 2400 Winchell Ave, Kalamazoo, with Pastor A.J. Gretz and Pastor Ken Baker officiating. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. A private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Kalamazoo. Memorial contributions may be made in Marcia's memory to Third Christian Reformed Church or the Calvin College Music Department. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes.
