LONGMAN, Marcia A.
of Litchfield
formerly of Climax Passed away on September 8, 2011 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. Marcia was born April 19, 1933 in Calhoun County, a daughter of William Homer Chapman and Estella Howard. She attended Athens High School and was employed as a school bus driver for Climax Scotts Public Schools and as a bookkeeper for 20 years at the North Adams Lumber Company. Marcia enjoyed crafts and loved painting, sewing and playing cards and was an avid gardener. She was a member of the Hillsdale County Business Womans Club, the Climax Study Club and several bridge clubs. On May 20, 1949, she was married to William Longman, who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters and 2 sons, Charlene Hughes and her significant other David Sanford of Litchfield, Steven Longman and significant other Connie Smelko of Hillsdale, Carla Sue Longman of Litchfield and Ronald Homer Longman and wife Dawn of North Adams; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister Joanne Lambert of Florida and a brother Robert Chapman and wife Louise of East Leroy; a sister-in-law Fern Chapman of Portage and a brother-in-law Richard VanMiddlesworth of Climax; several nieces and nephews. Marcia was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Rex Chapman and wife Irene, Ray Chapman and a sister Mary Lou VanMiddlesworth. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at the Climax United Methodist Church, 133 E. Maple St. with the Rev. Glenn Litchfield of the Climax United Methodist Church and Pastor Paul Pickell of North Adams officiating. Inurnment of cremated remains in Prairie Home Cemetery in Climax following the luncheon.
