Malla B. Davis

DAVIS, Malla B. Kalamazoo Passed away May 16, 2007 at Bronson Hospital. Malla was born December 16, 1928 in Tuckerman, AR, the daughter of Elzia and Malla Decker Lawhorn. She grew up in and attended school in Tuckerman and came to live in Kalamazoo, MI in 1953. Malla loved to sew and make blankets for her children and grandchildren. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 30 years at the Shakespeare Company in Kalamazoo. She was a member of the Nazareth Assembly of God Church. Malla was preceded in death by 2 sons, Jerry and Jimmy Davis, by 2 brothers, Junior and Otto Lawhorn and 2 sisters, Lucille Griffin and Claster James. On September 23, 1944, she was married to Calvin Davis, who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Billy Patricia Davis of Galesburg, MI, John Joyce Davis of Otsego, MI, Gracia Robert Mason of Portage and Kim Bumki Cho of Portage; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister Ruby Charlie Keller of Arkansas and a brother Marshall Lawhorn of Little Rock, AR; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be today from 5-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Following visitation in Kalamazoo, Malla will be taken to the Jackson Funeral Home, 1900 Block Malcolm in Newport, AR., where services will be held at 2:00 o?clock Monday. Interment in Sand Hill Cemetery in Auvergne, AR. The family requests that flowers not be sent for the visitation in Kalamazoo, but would be permitted at the Jackson Funeral Home. www.langelands.com
