of Kalamazoo, Michigan Mae went home to her Lord on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Upjohn Community Care Center, Memory Care Unit in Kalamazoo. She was born May 19, 1925 in Bessemer, MI, the daughter of Gust and Vera Yalonen. On October 1, 1944, she was united in marriage to Barney L. Norton. She was employed at various jobs over a 13 years period, with the longest being at Bronson Methodist Hospital in the Dietary Department. From 1981 through 2001, when she moved back to Kalamazoo, she had lived in Indiana, Saudi Arabia, Illinois, Oklahoma and Texas. Mae was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church. Surviving are her four children, Judith Wolfgang Lugauer of Vicksburg, Janet Hal Derksen of Parchment, Joanne Hensley of Tennessee and James Cindy Norton of Kalamazoo; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband and 13 brothers and sisters. Memorial services for Mae will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church, 402 S. Westnedge at Lovell. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Upjohn Community Care Center for Amber Gardens Memory Center.
