CARO, Madeline Gave Portage Passed away Saturday, January 20, 2007. She was born on November 19, 1928 in Three Rivers, MI the daughter of Fred and Maggie Osborn Gave and had lived in the Portage area for several years. She worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company for over 35 years, starting in Grand Rapids and retiring in Kalamazoo in 1982. In her spare time, Madeline loved bowling and was the secretary for two bowling leagues. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, William Caro of Portage; a step-daughter, Lois Calle of Lansing; 2 step-sons, Darwin Caro of FL and Durwood Caro of the Philippines; many step-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Gave of Lawton; a brother, Fred Gave of Greenville; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 step-sons, Kenneth and Dan Caro; 2 brothers, Russell and Edward Gave; and a sister, Lucy De Loof. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., with the Rev. James Dyke officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-6 PM and on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 AM until service time.
