HEILMAN, Mrs. M. Joy
Portage, MI Passed away Friday morning November 16, 2007 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. Joy was born Feb. 26, 1918 in Camden, Tennessee, the daughter of James Edgar and Maude Irene Frazier Herrin. Joy?s early childhood was spent in Tennessee. Later she moved, with her widowed Mother and siblings to Elgin, IL. and continued her education. Joy was united in marriage with Carl G. Heilman on Jan. 24, 1946 in Elgin, IL. After relocating to the Kalamazoo area Joy worked in many varied occupations before retiring from National City Bank in 1983. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and embroidering and made many pretty things. She was a devoted wife and mother, an avid homemaker and an excellent cook. She is survived by her husband Carl , and son Gene Jo Ann of Galesburg. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents, and sisters Irene Bedwell of DeLand, FL; Zita Schuman of Elgin, IL; and brothers Edgar Herrin of Paris, TN; James Herrin of Elgin, IL; and Max Herrin of Hollywood, FL. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 6-8pm Monday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Private graveside services will be held in Schoolcraft Cemetery at a later date.
