DYKEHOUSE, Lucille L.
of Kalamazoo Passed away at 90 years of age on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Kairos Dwelling with her family present. Lucille was born March 27, 1919, in Battle Creek, to the late Vern and Margaret Long King. She was united in marriage on November 1, 1940 to Harm R. Dykehouse, who preceded her in death on June 6, 1995. Lucille graduated from Bronson School of Nursing and worked as an RN for many years. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing with the family and bowled in numerous leagues for many seasons. Later in life she became involved with volunteer work. The family would like to thank Maria Varnesdeel and her family for their care and love of Lucille in her later years. Surviving Lucille are her children, Ronald Dykehouse of Washington, Richard Bonnie Dykehouse of Plainwell and Carol Ronald Roeder of Monument, CO; grandchildren, Brant Dykehouse, Cheryl Matt Ritchie, Robert Dykehouse, Chad Nicole Roeder and Adam Robyn Roeder; great grandchildren, Kylie and Gage Roeder; brother-in-law, Garret Mary Dykehouse and sister-in-law, Louwina Petersen. Also preceding Lucille in death were two sisters, Elizabeth Loveland and Edith Sorum. Family will greet friends for visitation Friday from 6-8:00 o'clock at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where services will take place on Saturday at 11:00 o'clock, Rev. Dan Minor and Rev. Russell Dykehouse officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lucille's memory may be directed to Kairos Dwelling, 2945 Gull Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49048.
