DENEKAS, Louise H.
Formerly of Kalamazoo Louise Helen Denekas VanSyckle died February 28, 2010 in Brevard, NC. She was born September 18, 1911 in Lacey, MI, the second child of LaVern and Mary VanSyckle. When she was five years old, the family moved to a farm near Bedford, MI, where she lived until 1937, when she moved with her family to Climax, MI. She was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and the Argubright Business College. She was employed by the Burgess Seed and Plant Company in Galesburg, MI and in 1944 moved to Galesburg, where she lived until retiring from Burgess after 40 years of service. She married Calvin Denekas of German Valley, IL in 1947. He died in 1964 of an illness contracted during military service in Korea. She then moved to Kalamazoo, where she lived until 2006. Then, due to worsening health, she moved to Brevard, NC, where she was a resident of the Brian Center Nursing Home, until her death. She was member of the Bedford Eastern Star, Chapter 471. She is survived by a brother, Neil VanSyckle of Brevard, NC; nephews, Philip VanSyckle of Dowling, Richard VanSyckle of Nashville, TN and Gary Begg of Atlanta, GA: nieces, Dana Begg Marshall of Vicksburg, MI, Nancy Begg Daning of Bristol, IN, Beth VanSyckle and Anne VanSyckle of Brevard, NC, Mary VanSyckle Ramirez of Spartansburg, SC and Linda Bender of Juneau, AK. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service at this time. A graveside committal service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, March 11th in the Bedford Township Cemetery.
