Kalamazoo, Michigan Died Tuesday evening February 10, 2009. Louis was born February 16, 1923 in New York City, New York a son of John and Matilda Ruhs. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life and was employed with the Comstock Public Schools for 34 years, retiring in 1982. He was also a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie E. Ruhs on January 27, 2006; a son, Bruce W. Ruhs on June 19, 2008; 2 brothers, John and Henry; and 2 sisters, Matilda and Anne. He is survived by 4 children, Barbara Michael Witzak of Kalamazoo, Robert Kathleen Ruhs of Boyne City, MI, Thomas Deborah Ruhs of Kalamazoo, and James Linda Ruhs of Trophy Club, Texas; 9 grandchildren, Craig, Robby, Amy, Sarah, Andrew, Christopher, Todd, Katie and Alexander Ruhs; a brother, William Ruhs of Napa Valley, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11 o'clock Saturday in Comstock Maple Grove Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Michigan Diabetes Association.
