KLEIN, Louis J. "Louie"
of Portage, Michigan Died Wednesday morning, October 10, 2012 at the age of 73. He was born February 16, 1939 in Portage, MI to the late John and Lucy Kuiper Klein. Louie served in the U.S. Air Force from February of 1958 until honorably discharged in June of 1962. He also served as a 30-year police officer for the City of Portage until he retired. Among Louie's interests were his love of golf and to have lunch each day at Derks and in later years at Bucky's. Surviving Louie are his brothers, Bill Barbara Klein and Larry Letty Klein; step-children, Carol Opfer, Deborah Adams, Jody Simpson, James Shipe and Mary Morgan all of FL; numerous step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and former wife, Wanda Buehler. Family will greet friends on Sunday, October 14th from 2-4 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave., where services will take place Monday, October 15th at 11:00 o'clock. Interment will follow at Central Portage Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First Reformed Church of Portage or to Kairos Dwelling.
