SMITH, Louie Robert
Kalamazoo, Michigan Louie was born November 16, 1926, in DeWitt, Arkansas, the son of Henry and Josie Smith and passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008 at Kairos Dwelling. During WW II, he served in the U.S. Army and later was employed for over 23 years with General Motors prior to his retirement. Louie was a member of the Portage Church of Christ. On June 21, 1973, he was united in marriage to the former, Lillian M. Zimmick who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Sue Randy Schmidt of Augusta; two grandchildren, Kari Schmidt and Kyle Schmidt both of Kalamazoo; a sister, Mabel Lehman of DeWitt, AR; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 AM - 12:00 Noon at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street where funeral services will be held beginning at 12:00 Noon Friday with Minister Mike James officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
